So, here you are! Honestly, I am super proud to be with you on this journey.
In just this tiny bit of time you’ve arrived at a place most women never reach but so many want to. And it really wasn’t all that difficult, I hope.
Let me know in your Facebook group or any other way, if it was, because I need to know so I can improve things for you and those who follow you.
So you’ve reached an understanding and level that even those who’ve been training martial arts for years don’t reach because you have a real understanding of what is needed to protect yourself.Â
What you’ve been learning isn’t sport. It’s real, practical and it’s effective - and will last you your life if you keep practising that is.
I’ve done the martial arts journey myself and I will continue to be a martial artist my whole life. But martial arts is not self defence. It’s taken me years to figure this out and I’ve gone through testing most of this material live on thousands of occasions, not just in the dojo when sparring against some ruffians but also on the streets of London and other places I probably shouldn’t talk about. Â
So you’ve already built a formidable foundation - you did it quickly - and now you’ve backed that up with phase 2 to fortify it.Â
So I just want to say two things at this stage. Firstly, you don’t need any more strikes and especially the more fancy strikes, like spinning kicks or advanced combos. There’s no harm in adding them to your skillset as they will keep you interested and motivated and keep your hand eye coordination but really the core skills you have now - your stance, your strikes, your awareness, your voice - these are what actually protect you. And you have now been building them into a solid framework that you can use.Â
So the second thing then, is where do we go from here. We’re going to move forward into the remaining areas next – deal with being followed, being grabbed, being taken down and get power full in those areas. Â
But let’s acknowledge what you’ve done.Â
You’ve completed Phase Two: Fortification.Â
You are now someone who has the tools and knows how to use them. Â
You understand how to deliver force. You can set better boundaries. You have psychological tactics and strategies that the Bad Guy can’t bypass. Â
You have power - and you know how to carry it with you. Â
In the situations where you are standing up, in those often early stages of self defence, you now will be one step ahead of the Bad Guy.
He won’t be expecting what comes his way. He won’t be expecting you to be trained. Â
And for that, I have to award you with Â
The Shield.Â
So, please take it with pride, because it’s not something I’m giving to you.
It’s not a gift. It’s something you have earned. Â
It’s not mine to give to you. It’s for you to take it and own it.
Myself and the team at Power For Women – because actually we are a whole team here, it’s not just me – but we are just happy you’ve let us be a part of this important journey with you.Â
So hold your Shield up high - and we will see you in Phase Three very soon.Â
Ciao for now.Â
