OSA Training: Unleash Your Palm

Every shot counts in self defence

Today’s Training: The Palm That Beats Them All

This is the most powerful strike there is - and over the next three days, you’ll own it.

Today’s four short videos break it down into mindset/mechanics, mechanics, execution and power generation.

You can watch them all in one go or spread them over two days.
This is the skill that could change everything - so please don't underestimate this shot.

1. Why Every Shot Counts

You’re not a boxer doing 45 minutes in a match or sparring.
In self defence, every shot matters - because it might be the one that gets you away safely.

2. The Palm Heel:

Precision, Power, Purpose

Why this strike works against anyone - even someone wearing a helmet.
Learn where to hit and what this strike really does inside the body and brain.

3. Strike from The Fence

Watch the demo and then it’s your turn:

4. Hit 'Em Like A Train

Without your piston, you’re leaving too much power behind.

Practice Plan

  • Watch all 4 videos

  • Don't rush it. Learn to do the technique before adding power and/or speed.

  • 1st Practice = 10 strikes each hand (10Right / 10Left) slowly.

  • No mitts/pads? Shadowbox with intensity

  • 2nd Practice = hit with both hands, left and right. Aim for 4-6 shots in one go. Repeat ten times.
  • Stay calm but build speed and power as you improve and feel ready to add it.
  • Once you can hit the basic shot, go back and now add the piston. Repeat with one hand, then both.
  • When competent, now repeat, but this time make sure you are returning to The Fence portion and making it solid and strong every time you finish. This will add even more power to your shots.

You’re not here to pitter patter. Over the long term you really need to be hitting super hard. Make each and every shot count. Left hand or right - doesn't matter; work them both. You’re here to hit. You’re here to get out. You might not get to choose which hand you're going to hit with. In women's self defence the woman is often grabbed at the initial stages, which means there might only be one hand free to hit with. So make sure that one hand can hit seriously hard.
