So, here you are! Honestly, I am super proud to be with you on this journey.
In just this tiny bit of time youâve arrived at a place most women never reach but so many want to. And it really wasnât all that difficult, I hope.
Let me know in your Facebook group or any other way, if it was, because I need to know so I can improve things for you and those who follow you.
So youâve reached an understanding and level that even those whoâve been training martial arts for years donât reach because you have a real understanding of what is needed to protect yourself.Â
What youâve been learning isnât sport. Itâs real, practical and itâs effective - and will last you your life if you keep practising that is.
Iâve done the martial arts journey myself and I will continue to be a martial artist my whole life. But martial arts is not self defence. Itâs taken me years to figure this out and Iâve gone through testing most of this material live on thousands of occasions, not just in the dojo when sparring against some ruffians but also on the streets of London and other places I probably shouldnât talk about. Â
So youâve already built a formidable foundation - you did it quickly - and now youâve backed that up with phase 2 to fortify it.Â
So I just want to say two things at this stage. Firstly, you donât need any more strikes and especially the more fancy strikes, like spinning kicks or advanced combos. Thereâs no harm in adding them to your skillset as they will keep you interested and motivated and keep your hand eye coordination but really the core skills you have now - your stance, your strikes, your awareness, your voice - these are what actually protect you. And you have now been building them into a solid framework that you can use.Â
So the second thing then, is where do we go from here. Weâre going to move forward into the remaining areas next â deal with being followed, being grabbed, being taken down and get power full in those areas. Â
But letâs acknowledge what youâve done.Â
Youâve completed Phase Two: Fortification.Â
You are now someone who has the tools and knows how to use them. Â
You understand how to deliver force. You can set better boundaries. You have psychological tactics and strategies that the Bad Guy canât bypass. Â
You have power - and you know how to carry it with you. Â
In the situations where you are standing up, in those often early stages of self defence, you now will be one step ahead of the Bad Guy.
He wonât be expecting what comes his way. He wonât be expecting you to be trained. Â
And for that, I have to award you with Â
The Shield.Â
So, please take it with pride, because itâs not something Iâm giving to you.
Itâs not a gift. Itâs something you have earned. Â
Itâs not mine to give to you. Itâs for you to take it and own it.
Myself and the team at Power For Women â because actually we are a whole team here, itâs not just me â but we are just happy youâve let us be a part of this important journey with you.Â
So hold your Shield up high - and we will see you in Phase Three very soon.Â
Ciao for now.Â
