This book has been a mission of mine. It started as a brochure for my sisters as well as an aide to help me teach classes.
But this humble ‘brochure’ had a mind of its own. It had aspirations. It didn’t want to be a brochure - it wanted to be a book full of essential women’s self defence skills!
I tried to fight it. It was going to take years and hurt my brain too much to write a book. But resistance was futile. As I fed it more and more, it grew fast and vast and it overwhelmed me for a while.
BUT…I whipped it back into shape before it got too big. I slimlined it. I made it fit the criteria that it would have the skills and practices I want my sisters, my nieces and my female friends to know but not overwhelm them.
And so it does. What you have here are the absolute essentials of women’s self defence.
So who am I to do this? Should you listen to me?
It’s quite boring talking about myself so I’ll just say I’ve spent significant time with the military and the police, that I’ve got a degree in sport science and I’m a martial artist with over 30 years experience. I’ve coached a tonne of sports too - including high level athletes and less-able-bodied people.
In the martial arts I’ve been coached by legends such as Roger Gracie and Mauricio Gomez, Ray Stevens, Russell Stutely, Geoff Thompson, Peter Consterdine and many other names you’ve never heard of!
This book is not really about fighting. It is about how to avoid confrontations, how to escape early, how to get away and NOT fight. These techniques will make it harder for the Bad Guy to prey on you from the very start.
